Men's Bowls

Pennants

In 2009 Harrington Bowling Club entered 5 teams in the Manning District Bowling Associations pennant competition. The grades played where 1’s, 3’s, 5’s, 6’s and 7’s. This year the clubs grade 6 managed to win its section but was defeated in the post sectional play offs.

2010 nominations will be made in early October; player numbers will determine the amount of teams nominated.

Special Events

 

February Anchorage Triples Held on a Monday and Tuesday in the middle of February with prize money of $1980.
May Carnival This carnival runs for 8 days and always concludes on Mothers day. Prize money for the week is $4050.
September Classic Pairs Run on a Monday and Tuesday around the third week in September. Prize money is $3000.
Hahn Monthly Triples Held on the 3rd Monday of the month with prize money of $720.
Monthly Mixed Pairs Carnival Held on the 1st Monday of the month with prize money of $480.

All carnivals are played in Creams and subject to change, please contact the club for further details.


 

Women's Bowls

Women’s Bowling Club Events are played annually in the Lower North Coast District WBA under the conditions laid down by the NSWWBA for Championship and Association Fixtures which include Pennant, Major Championships and State Charity Events (James Wall and Wolinski Shields). Minor Championships and Consistency Singles are also played.

In 2009 Pennant Grades 3,5 and 6 were played with the Club being successful in the grade 3/2 section of the District but were unsuccessful in the grade play-off.
In 2010 the Club intends to apply for Grades 3,4,5 and 6.

Social bowls are played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays commencing at 9-30 am.

Special Events

 

Gantry Fours This ONE DAY carnival is usually held in June and is restricted to the first 28 entries. Entry forms are available from the Secretary at the end of February.
Spring Carnival This very popular THREE DAY TRIPLES carnival is held in the first week in September and is restricted to the first 42 entries received.
Entry forms are available from the Secretary in May.

We also conduct other special events within our Club for the benefit of our members usually in October and November.

Travelling Bowlers

Yearly membership is $10 pp.

Trips are subsidised from raffle receipts.

One 6 day trip per year and up to three 1 to 3 day trips.

Transport and accommodation arranged.

Always a good time had by all.

Novelty Events

Hip-Hop-Bowls

Played during most holiday periods to cater for those who are not part of the regular structured events. Flat sole shoes can be worn and instruction is provided. It is a fun event where individuals can learn to enjoy the basics of the game. Currently being held Wednesday's from 4pm-7pm Commencing from the 23rd December $5 pp, bowls and instruction provided. 

 

Bowls/Golf Challenge

Occurs between our Club and the local Golf Club. Bowls is played on one Monday in a selected month and within 2 to 3 weeks Golf is played. Members from both Clubs are mixed to form teams and then teams are nominated the Club they represent. Scores are determined at the end of each event and then aggregated over time to determine the winner of the challenge.

 


   

Coaching

Individuals can learn to play Lawn Bowls with free lessons available from Accredited Coaches.
